At the age of seven, 'Tai Chi' Andy was diagnosed by the Head of Educational Psychology at the Aston University as having the most severe case of dyslexia that she had ever seen. Now Andy has a degree in Community and Youth Work, and was the only student on his course to graduate with a distinction.

Andy is also a Tai Chi Chuan expert, hence the nick name, and has studied with some of the world's greatest masters. The fact that he has excelled in this may also be due to the calm, reflective way that Andy views the world, and himself.

Andy has made a transformation that that some would think impossible by becoming extremely aware of his dyslexia. He embraced dyslexia and explored how it made him feel and think. He did this with a strong positive attitude. Students on his course were inspired by his willingness to talk about dyslexia, and how it affected him. Andy was also very methodical about his studies, and used his strong organisational skills to make his studies suit his way of working.

Now a manager, within Wolverhampton council, Andy has applied his studies to his career. He is in charge of Eastfields Community Centre and is also an assistant sector coordinator, working with 7 youth clubs. Even more inspirational considering Andy's start to academic life, is that he supervises several Youth and Community Work students.
